Perceived Stress Scale

The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) is a stress assessment tool to help measure individual stress levels.

We have built a simple web-based calculator for drjennytaitz.com to help with rapidly calculating your PSS score.  Your inputs are calculated client-side in your web browser and will never leave your computer.

When answering the questions, answer quickly and generally, treating each question separately as if it were asked by itself.

For techniques and stress management exercises, please check out Dr. Jenny Taitz’ new book: Stress Resets: How to Soothe Your Body and Mind in Minutes.

The PSS Scale was originally developed and printed in the following publications:

  • Cohen, S., Kamarck, T., and Mermelstein  “A global measure of perceived stress” – Journal of Health and Social Behavior (1983).
  • Cohen, S. and Williamson, G. “Perceived Stress in a Probability Sample of the United States” – The Social Psychology of Health (1988).
